Candlelight marches in Hyderabad to support Hazare

Hyderabad : Various organisations in Andhra Pradesh held candlelight marches in support of social activist Anna Hazare, whose indefinite fast in New Delhi for a stronger anti-corruption Lokpal bill continued for the third day Thursday.

Telangana Jagruthi, the cultural wing of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), staged a candlelight march in Hyderabad to show solidarity with Hazare.

Led by K. Kavita, daughter of TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao, dozens of youth held a march at People’s Plaza on Necklace Road abutting Hussain Sagar lake.

The protesters demanded that the government immediately table Lokpal Bill in parliament.

Holding national flags and placards, the protesters, including women, raised slogans against corruption and declared support for Hazare.

Activists of Young India Organisation also staged a candlelight march in Hyderabad to show solidarity with Hazare.

Meanwhile, veteran Telugu film actor and former MP Mohan Babu has declared his support for Hazare.

He decided to hold a rally Friday along with the students at the temple town of Tirupati.

“Every citizen should join hands to root out corruption, which is eating into the vitals of our society,” Mohan Babu told reporters.

Students of Sriniketan group of institutions run by him will participate in the rally.
