Kish Island (Iran) : India’s Alok Kumar blanked Thailand’s Praput Chaitanasakun 6-0 in the final to annex the Asian billiards crown here Thursday.
The 43-year old India No.1 sustained his imperious form that had seen him beat Peter Gilchrist of Singapore 5-2 in the semifinals and seven times World champion Pankaj Advani 4-3 in the quarterfinals.
Praput, who had ousted former World champion Geet Sethi 4-3 and Myanmar’s Kyaw Oo in the previous two rounds, had no answer to Kumar who was consistency personified in the 100-up shootout that tested the players’ temperament much more than skills.
