“A criminal contempt petition against Amar Singh was filed in the Supreme Court and for a special investigation into the fabrication of the CD which purported to carry a conversation between Shanti Bhushan and Mulayam Singh and Amar Singh,” Shanti Bhushan’s son Prashant Bhushan told reporters.

Prashant Bhushan, also a member of the panel, said the petition will be placed directly before the Chief Justice of India.

The tape has a voice said to be Shanti Bhushan’s speaking to Mulayam Singh and Amar Singh saying a judge could be “fixed” for Rs.4 crore. Shanti Bhushan has denied ever meeting Mulayam Singh or Amar Singh.

It was mentioned in the petition that the CD was fabricated with several intents. One was to derail the hearing of several key cases including the 2G spectrum case which is pending before the apex court, Prashant Bhushan said.
