The development came even as Hazare announced at a press conference that he was determined to go ahead with his fast and urged people to court arrest to push for a stronger Lokpal bill.

Earlier, Delhi Police had denied permission to Hazare and his supporters to go on fast Tuesday as they had not agreed to certain conditions.

Joint Commissioner of Police Sudhir Yadav said that if Team Hazare went ahead with its protest at the JP Park in the heart of the city, it would be deemed an unlawful gathering.

“We have denied (them permission),” Yadav told reporters, only hours after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asked people not to resort to hunger strikes in their campaign against corruption.
