Bhubaneswar : Fast, demonstrations and rallies continued in various parts of Orissa Saturday to support activist Anna Hazare in his fight for a strong anti-graft bill.
In state capital Bhubaneswar, the indefinite fast by at least two people entered the fifth day. A relay fast is going on near the assembly since Aug 16, Rabi Das, leader of a group which supports the campaign, told IANS.
The city has been witnessing rallies and demonstrations almost every day with people from all walks of life spontaneously joining the movement, he said. At least, three separate rallies were held here Saturday.
Reports reaching the capital said similar demonstrations were organised in other parts of the state, including rural areas. While lawyers boycotted courts, students skipped classes in several places.
The website of India Against Corruption – an outfit which is supporting Hazare’s anti-corruption campaign – has names of at least 1,300 people from the state who have reportedly volunteered to act as contact people to carry forward the movement.
