New Delhi : Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj Saturday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would vote in favour of the three demands of Team Anna in parliament.
As Hazare’s team alleged betrayal after it came to be known that there will be no resolution adopted by the parliament, Sushma Swaraj accused the government of trying to mislead, stating that BJP was ready to vote in favour of any resolution or motion brought in parliament.
“The government should not mislead. In both houses, we will vote in support of all three demands,” Swaraj told reporters in the parliament house complex.
The three demands of Team Anna are a citizen’s charter, inclusion of lower bureaucracy and creation of Lokayuktas in the states under the Lokpal bill.
Asked about the government’s position that a sense of house will be conveyed to the activists, Swaraj said no such proposal was conveyed to the opposition.
“That proposal has not come to me, whether it is the sense of the house, motion or resolution, if there is anything we are expected to vote, we will vote in favour of all these three demands, we have very categorically said it in the house,” she said.
She also said that there was no ambiguity from the BJP’s side.
“We did what we said, there was no ambiguity… so we are saying in all these three demands if government brings a proposal, we will vote and vote in both houses,” she said.
