New Delhi: To demand justice to Babri Masjid, Popular Front of India (PFI) will stage a dharna (sit-in) on 6th December, the 19th demolition anniversary of the historic Ayodhya mosque, at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. This and several other programs on the day in different parts of the country will be held by the group with the theme of “Babri Masjid – Lest We Forget”.

“The biggest attack on the secular fabric of India was on 6th December 1992 when the Hindutva forces demolished the Babri Masjid. Every year Popular Front of India observes it as Anti-Fascist Day,” said Moulana Kaleemullah Siddiqui, convenor of the PFI dharna.

He also condemned the central government for not taking any action on the Liberhan Commission report which identified and indicted people responsible for the demolition of the 15th century mosque built by India’s first Mughal Emperor Zaheeruddin Mohammad Babar.

“The Liberhan Commission submit its report to the Central Government after 17 years, but the Central Government showed no political will to punish the culprits found guilty in the report . The verdict by Allahabad High Court in Babri Masjid title suit dividing the land among three parties added insult to injury. Popular Front took steps to make people aware of the injustice contained in the judgment. Fortunately this judgment was later stayed by the higher judiciary,” Siddiqui said in a statement.
