New Delhi : Bharatiya Janata Party leader Yashwant Sinha Thursday slammed the government for introducing an amendment for incorporating minorities within the provision of 50 percent reservation in the Lokpal structure through a corrigendum to the bill.
He said that the corrigendum providing for minority representation within the Lokpal amounted to amending the bill, which could not be done in such a manner.
Sinha said the corrigendum is for the correction of typographical mistakes or spelling mistakes and not for amending the bill to be introduced in the Lok Sabha.
He also chided the government for keeping every one in suspense over when the Lokpal bill would be introduced in the house.
Yashwant Sinha that members were waiting since 11 a.m. and were in total uncertainty about the bill.
