Islamabad : An international manhunt has been launched for two killers of Pakistani minorities minister Shahbaz Bhatti who had been seeking to reform the country’s controvesial blasphemy law.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik said Sunday that red warrants had been issued against the assassins of Shahbaz Bhatti and they would soon be brought to justice, Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
“The two assassins are activists of the banned outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba. They managed to reach the Middle East. However, we are making efforts for their arrest and will bring them back to the country,” he added.
Bhatti, a 42-year-old Christian, was shot dead March 2 as he left his mother’s house in a posh locality in the heart of Islamabad.
He was the second high-profile person to die after Punjab governor Salman Taseer who was shot dead by his own bodyguard Jan 4.
Both had sought presidential pardon for Aasia Bibi, a 45-year-old Christian farmhand sentenced to death on charges of denigrating the Prophet.
