Mumbai : A benchmark index of the Indian equities market Thursday closed 138 points lower with realty, capital goods and auto stocks leading the losers’ side.
The 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 20,395.5 points, was ruling at 20,162.6 points (provisional), down 138.5 points or 0.68 percent from its previous close at 20,301.1 points.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the 50-share S&P CNX Nifty shut shop at 6,042.4 points, down 0.62 percent or 37.4 points.
Broader markets also closed in the red, with the BSE midcap index closing 1.28 percent lower and the BSE smallcap index ending 1.11 percent down.
