Kozhikode: An international seminar will be held in Kozhikode on Saturday (July 9) on the eve of the second death anniversary of former president of the Muslim League Panakkad Syed Muhammedali Shihab Thangal. A memorial conference also will be held tomorrow.
Central Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahmed will inaugurate the memorial conference tomorrow. Minister KC Venugopal and Bahrain Shura Council member Bahya Jawad Al Jishi will be the chief guests. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the international seminar on July 9, which will be presided over by Muslim League president Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal.
Industries Minister and senior Muslim League leader PK Kunjalikkutty will announce the Shihab Thangal Memorial Community Empowerment Programme. Member of Qatar Parliament Dr Ahmed Muhammed Ubaidan Fakro, Syrian poet and Shihab Thangal’s friend in Cairo University Haider Khareedi, Professor N Sudhakar Rao of Hyderabad University and Associate Professor of Jawaharlal Nehru University Dr AK Ramakrishnan will also attend the different sessions of the seminar.
Munawarali Shihab Thangal, chairman of the welcome committee for the programmes, informed media persons yesterday that all arrangements have been made for the programmes. Convener CK Zubair, MC Vadakara, Ahmed Kutty Unnikulam, PA Rasheed, Rasheed Faizy and Mahe Basheer attended the press conference.
