Islamabad : Pakistan’s exports to Sri Lanka stood at $283 million in 2010, a minister said.
Minister for Commerce Amin Fahim said Thursday that during 2010, Pakistan imported goods worth $54 million from Sri Lanka.
The pace of growth was encouraging for both countries, Associated Press of Pakistan quoted the minister as saying.
Pakistan’s exports were mainly rice, fish, cotton yarn and pharmaceutical goods while imports were mainly tea, fruits and seeds, he said.
The minister said that creating awareness among the business communities of the two countries about the benefits available to them from the Pakistan-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) is an effective way to leverage bilateral and regional trading arrangements.
