Wasn’t at fashion show after Mumbai blasts: Sahay

Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh) : Rubbishing media reports that he was attending a fashion show when panic gripped Mumbai following serial blasts Wednesday, Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahay Friday said he left the event as soon as he came to know about the terror strikes.

“It’s wrong to say I was there to enjoy the fashion show. The terror strikes had not taken place till I reached there. The blasts took place at around 7 p.m. while I had reached the hotel where the fashion show was organised much before that time,” Sahay told reporters in Mirzapur, some 300 km from Lucknow.

“The fashion parade was organised by the daughter of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ashok Pradhan… The event was not a dance or singing programme. As fashion designing is part of education curriculum that is being taught to students, I went there in the capacity of tourism minister.

“The moment I came to know about the terror strikes, I left the venue at once,” added Sahay, who was here to visit a historic temple.

Sahay’s clarification comes after a section of media reported that he along with other celebrities was enjoying a fashion show in Mumbai Wednesday at a hotel when triple blasts rocked the city.
