Kozhikode: The state secretariat of the Popular Front of India decided to organize the Freedom Parade in four towns in Kerala this year. The Parade will be held on August 15 in Punalur (Kollam district), Chavakkad (Thrissur dist), Manjeri (Malappuram) and Thamarasseri (Kozhikode).
The secretariat pointed that the organisation was holding the parade to keep ablaze the awareness of freedom and patriotism. State president S Ashraf Moulavi presided over the meeting. General secretary P Abdul Hameed, TK Abdussamad and KH Nasar were present among others.
The PFI has been holding the Freedom Parade in different towns and cities in Kerala since 2004, and later in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The Parade was held on Independence Day each year raising the slogan ‘Be the sentinel of freedom’. However, it could not be held last year due to ban in different districts following the hand-chopping incident, in which some alleged PFI members were accused of chopping off the hand of a college professor charged with blasphemy.
