Baghdad : At least 17 people were killed and over 50 were injured Friday when a roadside bomb exploded in Iraq’s Tikrit city, Xinhua quoted a police source as saying.
The explosion occurred near a mosque in the well-known Presidential Palace site when people completed their Friday noon prayers and were heading home.
The affected people included government officials, the source stated on condition of anonymity.
The extravagant Presidential Palace, once occupied by US military after toppling Saddam Hussein from president’s post, now houses many government offices and a police headquarter.
