Islamabad : Strategic partnership between Pakistan and China is critical for peace and security in the region and beyond, President Asif Ali Zardari has said.
Speaking at a ceremony to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations with China, Zardari said Pakistan was proud to have Beijing as a “time-tested friend”.
The Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) quoted him as saying Wednesday that the Pakistan-China friendship would continue to grow further in the days to come.
“Pakistan-China friendship has withstood the test of time and it is a friendship that has grown stronger with every passing day,” the president said.
“China is our true and most reliable friend and partner, and we share each other’s joys and sorrows,” he added.
Zardari said Pakistan would always “support and defend the just cause and core interests of the Chinese nation — be it Taiwan or Tibet”.
