Lucknow : Anand Tiwari, one of the shooters arrested for killing Lucknow’s chief medical officer B.P. Singh, Friday claimed that he was being falsely implicated in the case at the behest of some high-profile people.
“I have been made the main shooter by the police in the killing of doctor B.P. Singh…I have no connection with the case. I don’t know anything about the murder of the doctor,” Tiwari told reporters here while being taken to a local court.
“It’s a high-profile case. I am being falsely implicated. I don’t know the persons who have implicated me… However, I am quite sure that they are high and mighty… the Special Task Force (STF) sleuths picked me up from my home June 16 after tying my hands and legs,” added Tiwari, who also expressed fear for his life in Lucknow jail.
Besides Anand Tiwari, two others – Vinod Sharma and Ram Krishna Verma – were arrested June 17 on the outskirts of the state capital, police said.
Singh was shot dead April 2 as he left his house for morning walk. According to police, deputy chief medical officer Y.S. Sachan, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Lucknow jail, had hired the shooters for killing Singh.
“Sustained investigation and electronic surveillance carried out by the Special Task Force (STF) has established the role of Dr. Sachan in hatching the conspiracy to murder Dr. B.P. Singh, who had apparently become a stumbling block in the large scale pilferage of funds,” state cabinet secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh told reporters June 17.
