Berlin : The vice-president of the German Parliament Wolfgang Thierse here on Monday called for closer parliamentary contacts with Iran, according to IRNA.
Meeting with an Iranian parliamentary delegation comprised of Seyyed Ali Adiani, Ali Bonai, Ghodratollah Alikhani and Seyyed Jasem Saedi, Thierse stressed intensifying bilateral parliamentary links could further promote economic and cultural relations.
Pointing to one of of his trips to Iran a few years ago, Thierse reiterated the need to step up contacts between the German and Iranian parliamentary friendship groups.
Meanwhile, the deputy head of the Iranian-German parliamentary friendship group Seyyed Ali Adiani said throughout Europe, the Iranian Parliament was enjoying the best relations with German legislators.
Adiani invited Thierse to visit the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Iranian MPs are expected to meet with other senior German parliamentarians during their five-day stay, including the Greens and Social Democratic Party.
