CPI-M meet from Friday to discuss assembly polls

New Delhi: The Communist Party of India-Marxist’s central committee will begin a three-day meeting Friday to finalise the campaign strategy for the upcoming assembly elections, party sources said.

The meeting will be attended by all the top leaders, including general secretary Prakash Karat, politburo members Sitaram Yechury and Brinda Karat, and the chief ministers of Kerala and West Bengal – V.S. Achuthanandan and Budhadeb Bhattacharjee respectively.

Party sources said the meeting will chalk out the campaign strategy focussing on the corruption scandals of the central government, including the Supreme Court judgment striking down the appointment of Central Vigilance Commissioner P.J. Thomas.
