Hyderabad: Reacting to the Ahmedabad special court’s judgment in Godhra train burning case in which 11 people were given death penalty and 20 life sentence, Hyderabad based Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee (CLMC) strongly condemned the verdict terming it as murder of justice and against the principles of justice.
“We want to make it clear that the court judgment on Godhra case is the murder of justice. With this judgment it is proved that in Gujarat judicial procedure system is totally anti-Muslim. It is a big question mark on the standard of justice. Because several commissions in their reports as well as organizations including CLMC in their fact findings concluded that train was put on fire from inside the coach and the material used for fire was already present in the train itself and post incident the same material was used for massacring Muslims and destroying the properties of Muslims” said Latif Mohd Khan, general secretary of CLMC.
He also added that the reason for this shameful act was to make Narendra Modi a hero and wipe out the Muslims by targeting them.
“From the day of Godhra incident, the attacks on Muslims started, their properties looted, children and women tortured and after that hundreds of Muslims were detained and put in the jails for years. On one hand the killers of thousands of Muslims during the riot are roaming freely. On the other hand innocent Muslims were kept in jail for nine years without evidences and some of them were awarded with capital punishment while some others were given life imprisonment. In fact, it is a part of greater conspiracy of Hindutva against Muslims but the most shameful aspect is that the court’s verdicts are now giving strength the anti-Muslims mindset”
He called upon India’s secular political parties to fight unitedly to liberate the Gujarat from the clutches of Hindutva and restore secularism.
