Kolkata: West Bengal’s ruling Left Front Wednesday issued its manifesto for the state assembly polls, promising to increase employment and raise the income of people living below the poverty line.
“Our programme will be to make the state number one in respect of human development index. Our aim is to increase the income of the people who are currently under the below poverty level and raise the income of 40 lakh families,” Biman Bose, Left Front chairman and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) state chief, said after releasing the manifesto.
He added that the front is also aiming to increase job opportunities for people living below the poverty line.
The six-phase assembly polls in West Bengal begin April 18.
