Makka Masjid police firing report should be made public: CLMCI

    Hyderabad: Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee (CLMCI), a Hyderabad-based Human rights organization has asked the Andhra Pradesh government to make public Bhaskar Rao Commission report which was submitted to the government in October 2010.

    Nine people died on May 18, 2007 when bombs placed by Hindutva terrorists killed nine people during Friday prayers. Subsequently, police fired shots on Muslim killing five more. Bhaskar Rao commission was set up on June 2nd 2007 to investigate the police firing which submitted to the government in October 2010 but the report is yet to be released or tabled in the Assembly.

    General Secretary of CLMCI Lateef Mohd. Khan expressed dismay over Muslim MLAs who have failed to raise this issue in the AP Assembly. He termed their silence as “strange” and “suspicious.”

    Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee appealed to all the political parties and the responsible persons of all the organizations to build pressure on the government to present the Bhaskar Rao Commission report before the people.

    CLMCI has sent a letter to Chief Minister Kiran Reddy and Home Minister Ms. Sabita Reddy demanding that the report is made public so that future course of legal action an take place and victims can get justice.
