The four were killed late Sunday night in their home in Dakia Kedli village, some 140 km from here.

Jeetu Barhi, Basant Barhi, Mahesh Barhi and Sheet Barhi were killed just a day after Maoists killed five members of a marriage party, including the groom, in Gumla district.

“It seems that PLFI (People’s Liberation Front of India) members killed the four brothers, suspecting them to be supporters of the CPI-Maoist (Communist Party of India-Maoist). The killing appears to be in retaliation to Saturday’s killing,” a police officer told IANS.

The banned CPI-Maoist late Saturday night raided Lokmi village in Gumla district and killed five people of a marriage party, suspecting them to be members of the rival PLFI.

CPI-Maoist and PLFI are involved in a fratricidal war for many years over supremacy in the state.

PLFI has called for a shutdown in Gumla, Simdega and Latehar districts.
