Kasargod: The Kasargod area committee of the Solidarity Youth Movement came forward for the rescue of the woman and children, who had to live in the railway station after the arrest of the woman’s husband.
Ramla (35) and children Ramsheed (14), Rishana (1 and half yrs old) and Rishad (1 month) had to live in the railway station when her husband Shafi (40) was arrested by the police.
Ramla was admitted in the general hospital in March and gave birth to a baby boy on April 14. Shafi was arrested the same night after a strife with some employees of the hospital. When Ramla and children went back to their rented quarters in Uppala, they were driven out accusing they had not paid the rent. Left without a shelter, they had to stay in the railway station for the last few days.
When the news was reported by the media, Ramla and children were adopted by the Solidarity Youth Movement and taken back to the rented house they had been living in earlier. Solidarity leaders Shafeeq Nasrulla, Abdulla Chattanjal, Muhammed Padaladukka and Ilyas Uppala led the moves. The organisation will also reportedly help the education of Ramsheed, the eldest son.
Earlier, SDPI leaders Abdulla Eriyal and AH Muneer contacted lawyers to help release Shafi from jail.
