Moscow : Russia plans to spend 1.1 trillion rubles (around $35 billion) on arms purchases in 2012, Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said.
This expenditure would be up 17 percent from the previous year, Xinhua reported.
In the next three years, the total allocation for defence procurement would reach some six trillion rubles (around $191 billion), Ivanov said Thursday.
Russia’s “rearmament” programme proposed in 2008 envisages an allotment of 20 trillion rubles (around $720 billion) until 2020.
