Four Taliban killed in Afghanistan

Kabul : At least four Taliban insurgents, including a group commander, were killed after Afghan police backed by NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) carried out a raid in Kunduz province Saturday.

The raid was launched in the province’s capital Kunduz, 250 km north of Kabul, Xinhua reported.

“Acting upon an intelligence report, police in coordination with NATO-led forces raided a house in Kunduz city at 3 a.m. local time today. As a result, four Taliban rebels including their commander namely Qari Shafiq were killed,” a provincial police spokesman said Saturday.

There were no casualties on civilians or security personnel during the operation, he said.

Taliban militants are yet to comment on the incident.
