The Muslim organizations while demanding stringent action against the culprits condemned the central and state governments for their indifferent attitude towards such incidents.

A joint protest by Human Rights and social organisations of Rajasthan including Jamaat-e-Islami at Ambedkar Circle of Jaipur on 13th Oct 2011 against the assault on social activist and eminent lawyer Mr. Prashant Bhushan

Er Mohammad Saleem, National Secretary, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, said: “It’s an attack on democracy and liberty and a black spot on our democracy. It is not an attack by some individuals but a planned attack by fascists groups who call themselves patriots”.

Er Saleem while leading a joint protest demonstration in Jaipur on Thursday against the attack on Bhushan said that such incidents are on rise in the country and if govt remained indifferent it will increase.

He said that culprits are doing such acts because they are sure no action will be taken against them as they see no punishment to guilty for Babri demolition and Gujarat pogrom.

“As culprits of Babri demolition, Gujarat pogrom and other such acts have not yet been published they are certain that no action will be taken against them,” He said and held government responsible for such attacks.

“Such incidents are happening because of the indifferent attitude of the govt so govt itself is responsible for them,” Er Saleem said.

He demanded arrest of those behind the attack and stringent action against them.

Chairman of Popular Front of India E.M. Abdul Rahiman while condemning the attack on leading advocate and social activist Prashant Bhushan by a communal fanatic group said: “The attack has once again raised questions on the security of the activists who dare to challenge injustice. Attacks on social activists are on an increase which is an alarming trend. If we have a glance over the incidents in past 2 years it is clearly evident that communal fanatics have targeted activists under the cover of nationalism and patriotism. Such incidents are a proof that there is a dedicated attempt by fascist forces to imbibe intolerance among the masses and silence any alternate voices. It was more pathetic that a few sections tried to justify this attack citing it as a reaction to anti-national comments.”

He also expressed discontent over the inaction of the law enforcing authorities. “The unwillingness of police to book such miscreants in the past has made the communal fanatics to feel immune from law. In some instances we feel that the government or police’s silence and inaction directly endorses the heinous actions of such fanatics on activists who question the government policies. “

PFI demanded the Delhi Police to immediately arrest the culprits and also the people behind these culprits.

The Social Democratic Party of India, (SDPI) chief E. Aboobacker, said: It is really reprehensible that the youths owing allegiance to the right wing Shri Ram Sene organisation had the temerity to take law into their hands in front of TV camera to express their ire over the advocate’s reported remarks on Kashmir issue.

He demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
