Lucknow : Two men working for a Pakistan-based fake currency racket were arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district with counterfeit Indian currency with a face value of around Rs.35,000 Saturday, police said.
Rizwan Ahmad and Wahid, both in their mid-30s, were nabbed from Mudhapandey locality following a joint operation by the state police’s special operation group and the district police.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the two have been working for the Pakistan-based racket for the last four-five years,” police inspector Anil Pradhan told reporters in Moradabad, some 250 km from Lucknow.
“The duo used to supply fake notes in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh,” he added.
Ahmad and Wahid are natives of Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district.
