New Delhi:The Delhi High Court has appointed two guardians to look after an 86-year-old man who wished to withdraw his civil suit against his relatives over a property dispute.
Petitioner S.D. Gupta expressed his inability to continue with the suit due to his poor health, but the court did not allow him to do so and instead appointed two advocates as his guardians.
In his petition, Gupta said he was not in a position to continue with the case as he had undergone surgery in both his eyes in 2006, lost vision and was presently getting eye treatment from All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He also had other old age related issues.
Justice Gita Mittal, in her order appointing advocates Ashok Aggarwal and Sai Krishna as guardians, said: “They shall jointly or severally look after the interest of S.D. Gupta in respect of his property.” The order came Monday but was made available Thursday.
Gupta, a resident of No.26 Central Lane in Bengali Market area of central Delhi, has been fighting the case claiming a one-fourth share of property, which is worth Rs.10 crore.
The court also restrained Gupta’s relatives from transferring or taking possession of the property without its permission.
“Property No.26 shall not be transferred, alienated or parted with possession of without leave of this court,” Justice Mittal said.
