London : Pizza Hut has sparked outrage in Pakistan after it withdrew a popular Ramadan offer, the Daily Mail reported Wednesday.
The fast food chain has withdrawn the all-you-can-eat deal to prevent “unrestrained gluttony” by limiting its customers to a single regular pizza, the company said.
The customers could eat pizza after pizza for just seven pounds under the deal.
Restaurants were often packed with families for Iftar – the evening meal when Muslims are allowed to break their fast.
Diners have now taken to social networking sites to complain about the new deal, which while cheaper, is still advertised as an all-you-can-eat deal.
Marya Khan, of Pizza Hut Pakistan, said the offer was more in keeping with the spirit of Ramadan.
“The former all-you-can-eat format served as an unrestrained invitation to gluttony and waste, colliding with the very spirit of Ramadan,” the Mail quoted her as saying.
