New Delhi : A woman was killed by her daughter-in-law and her paramour here when she came to know about their illicit relationship and threatened to tell her son, said police Friday adding that three people have been arrested in the case.
Poonam, 24, who used to call her school-time boyfriend home when her family, killed her mother-in-law when she caught her red-handed.
The incident was reported from Sarita Vihar in south Delhi.
“Poonam, her paramour Sushil Kumar and his relative Deepak were arrested Thursday for killing the elderly woman in front of her husband on the intervening night of Aug 12 and 13,” said a police officer. The trio managed to rob gold jewellery and money.
Poonam’s father-in-law tried to save his wife but his efforts were in vain and she was declared dead in a private hospital she was taken to.
“During investigations, police suspected the role of an insider in the crime and zeroed-in on Poonam who revealed that her marriage was solemnised four years ago against her will while she had a boyfriend (Sushil) since her school days. She was in constant touch with Sushil who used to come to her house when family members were away,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ravi Shanker.
Poonam’s mother-in-law one day noticed Sushil’s presence and warned her daughter-in-law against such relationship and even threatened that she would say to her son.
“Poonam hatched the plan to eliminate her mother-in-law and involved her lover and his relative in the conspiracy,” said the officer.
