Mumbai : Polling to a Rajya Sabha seat from Maharashtra that fell vacant after the death of sitting member Vilasrao Deshmukh will be held Jan 12, the poll panel announced Tuesday.
According to the announcement by the EC, the by-election is being held to fill up the vacancy that occurred due to the death of Deshmukh Aug 14. His term was to last till April 2, 2018.
The poll notification will be issued Dec 26, while the last day of filing nominations will be Jan 2.
