Islamabad : A stitch in time would have saved as many as 10 tailors who were detained in a Pakistani town for rejecting Eid orders and overcharging.
The tailors were detained in Landi Kotal in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and later freed on paying a fine.
Officials acted after getting complaints the tailors had refused to make their clothes for Eid and that they overcharged.
Unhappy with the development, tailors have now threatened to go on strike.
Abdul Hadi, a tailor, said loadshedding had overburdened them with work.
He said the situation had forced them to hike charges and reject new orders as most sewing machines ran on electricity.
“We can’t take fresh orders as power outages last for hours daily,” he was quoted as saying.
