They have been lodged at the Central Prison here and following the new order, their remand would continue.

Italian marines Latorre Massimillano and Salvatore Girone were first sent by this court to 14 days custody on Feb 20 and the police was first given three days to interrogate them, which was later extended twice.

Both the marines were produced in the court Monday also.

Two Indian fishermen, Ajesh Binki, 25, and Gelastine, 45, were allegedly mistaken as pirates and shot dead by the two Italian marines on board cargo vessel Enrica Lexie Feb 15, about 14 nautical miles off Alappuzha in Kerala.

The counsel for the marines today put forward two requests and wished that they be provided a TV in their room.

The second request made was that since the ballistic examination is currently on and since they were not available when the first examination was done on the seized weapons from the ship, a re-examination should be done in their presence.

The Kollam chief judicial magistrate court last month had agreed that when the ballistic examination is conducted, the presence of two Italian experts is to be allowed.

The court will take up the two fresh demands made by the marines on the 21st of this month.
