Hyderabad : Eight Class 10 students drowned in a tank in Andhra Pradesh’s SPS Nellore district, police said Wednesday.
The bodies of the students were recovered from the tank in Kavali town, about 500 km from here, after midnight.
The boys, who had gone for a bath, were reported missing late Tuesday. After a frantic search, the local authorities saw their cycles and clothes on the tank bund. Expert swimmers were called and traced the bodies of all eight students after midnight.
All the boys were students of a private English medium school in Kavali town.
The incident came to light a few hours after eight students aged between five and 10 years were killed and 20 injured when a private school bus fell into a canal in Khammam district. Initial reports had put the death toll at 13.
In another tragedy Wednesday, five women coming to Hyderabad for a wedding were killed and 20 injured in Karimnagar district when a truck hit the van in which they were travelling.
