The accused, identified as Yogesh Sharma, 21, Ajay, 25, and Vinay Kumar, were arrested Wednesday from north Delhi’s Tri Nagar for the murder of Pooja.

The victim’s headless body, packed inside a gunny bag, along with some blood stained clothes and some torn photographs, was recovered by a police patrolling team near Najafgarh drain behind Inderlok metro station in north Delhi March 17.

The body was chopped into eight pieces with a sharp edged weapon.

During interrogation, Sharma disclosed that he was in a live-in relationship with Pooja for the last two years.

“For some times, Pooja had been pressing Sharma to marry her, but he was trying to get rid of her. He also suspected that Pooja was not loyal to him. Finally, he along with his two friends, strangulated her and cut her body into several pieces on March 16. Her head was also removed and burnt to hide her identity,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police I.B. Rani.
