V.K. Madan, zonal inspector of the house tax department of south Delhi’s civic agency, was arrested Wednesday for accepting a bribe following a complaint from a resident of south Delhi’s Sawan Nagar, who was issued notice from the house tax department for his property.

“Madan, who had calculated the property tax of the complainant at around Rs.2.50 lakh, demanded a bribe of Rs.50,000 to settle the issue. Later, the inspector agreed to accept Rs.25,000,” the CBI officer said.

Madan was caught while accepting the bribe, as the agency laid a trap after getting the complaint.

The inspector was presented before a special CBI judge Thursday and was sent to two-day police remand.
