New Delhi : The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 p.m. Thursday following an uproar over Cauvery river row.
During zero hour, Communist Party of India (CPI) MP from Tamil Nadu M. Lingam raised the issue. Members from Karnataka immediately opposed him.
Both sides resorted to sloganeering, leading to a commotion. Amid the din, the speaker adjourned the house.
The Supreme Court Monday asked Chief Ministers J. Jayalalithaa of Tamil Nadu and Jagadish Shettar of Karnataka to meet and find an amicable solution to the Cauvery water dispute.
Jayalalithaa and Shettar are set to meet Thursday.
The Cauvery River Authority comprises all the basin states – Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala besides the union territory of Puducherry.
