Metropolitan Magistrate Jasjeet Kaur announced the hearing date after directing police to supply the charge sheet and other documents to the accused.

The leaders were accused of rioting, unlawful assembly, obstructing public servants in discharge of their duty and other various charges under the Indian Penal Code. They have denied the charges.

The court was hearing a case against Gupta and six other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders for damaging public property during a protest in February last year at Jantar Mantar against price rise, corruption and other issues.

During the protest, they were asked by police not to enter Parliament Street where another protest was going on, but the protestors tried to pull down the barricades and also damaged public property, police said in the charge sheet.

Beside Gupta, other accused are Pawan Sharma, Pravesh Verma, R.P. Singh, Rajeshwar Nagpal, Mahender Gupta and Shikha Rai.

The accused were granted bail in the case in April this year.
