Srinagar : President Pranab Mukherjee arrived here Wednesday on his maiden three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
A special aircraft carrying the president and his staff landed at the Srinagar International Airport around 5 p.m.
Governor N.N. Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, state assembly Speaker Muhammad Akbar Lone were among those who received Pranab Mukherjee on his arrival.
The president flew in an army helicopter to the Nehru helipad, from where he drove straight to Raj Bhavan in Srinagar’s Chashma Shahi area.
In the evening, the governor will be hosting a banquet for President Muherjee at Raj Bhavan, which will feature a special concert of Kashmiri classical music.
The president will also have separate meetings with the governor and the chief minister.
