New Delhi : The union tourism ministry has sanctioned nearly Rs.79 crore towards several key infrastructure-heavy tourism projects involving a golf course, helicopter tourism and a luxury cruise ship hub, Minister of State for Tourism Chiranjeevi told the Rajya Sabha Thursday.
In his written reply to a query by Congress MP from Goa Shantaram Naik, the minister said that the union ministry had sanctioned eight projects worth Rs.77.90 crore under the 11th Five Year Plan and two other projects for Rs.0.50 crore for the current financial year.
The priority projects listed by Chiranjeevi in the reply involve setting up of a golf course and luxury cruise at Goa’s only major port terminal, helicopter tourism, development of tourism circuits at Candolim and Calangute, both popular beach villages in north Goa and promotion of cultural fiestas like the Carnival and Shighmo, both traditional Catholic and Hindu festivities held annually.
