A few minutes after the first session opened Sunday morning, the lawyers asked for adjourning the trial as the defendants have the right to attend, Xinhua quoted the state TV as saying.

For security reasons, the Islamist Brotherhood General Guide Mohamed Badie, arrested Tuesday along with his two deputies, didn’t appear at the Cairo Criminal Court Sunday.

The suspects will face criminal charges including inciting violence and killing anti-Morsi protesters, according to a prosecution statement.
