Dubai : A total of 264 people have been arrested in Dubai for violating the law.
Those nabbed by Dubai Municipality inspectors in cooperation with Dubai Police included 167 street vendors, 48 beggars, 37 car washers and 12 unlicensed butchers and fish cleaners.
They were arrested in January.
Officials said the move also resulted in the seizure of several low-quality goods and pirated CDs.
A total of 1,933 counterfeit products were seized. These included 962 miscellaneous items, 710 pirated CDs, 230 food items, 21 palm trees put for sale on public roads and 10 alcoholic drinks.
