‘CLICK RIGHTS – Focus on the Child’ is a month-long online campaign launched here Tuesday by NGO Child Rights and You (CRY) in association with HCLT Foundation.

Aiming to “pictorially highlight the barriers to education faced by 8,150,618 Indian children,” the NGO said the pictures can be uploaded on www.cry.org/focusonthechild.

“It is our flagship initiative that aims to use photography to raise public awareness… this year the focus is on the reasons why children are still out of school, despite the RTE (Right To Education) Act being enforced three years ago,” said Soha Moitra, regional director (north), CRY.

“As the country approaches another general election, we are hoping to mobilise the 110 million first-time voters aged between 18-22 years… we hope that they will speak up for the right of every child to a healthy, happy childhood,” added Moitra.

The campaign will culminate in showcasing select pictures depicting the reasons that keep children away from school at an exhibition in Delhi. It will also share the pictures collected as evidence in its advocacy efforts at the local and national level.

Designed to involve citizens, including eminent photographers, to use photography as a medium to advocate for child rights, a session by eminent photographer Raghu Rai will also be held July 23.
