The cabinet at its meeting, chaired by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, also decided to provide jobs to those who became permanently disabled or their family members.

Briefing the media of the cabinet decisions, Information and Public Relations Minister D.K. Aruna said the government would extend all possible help to the families of the victims.

Twin bomb blasts on Feb 21 at crowded Dilsukhnagar area in Hyderabad had killed 17 people and injured 116 others.

The state government has already handed over Rs.6 lakh each to the kin of the victims.

In other decisions, the cabinet gave its approval for handing over government land for Hyderabad Metro Rail works.

The cabinet referred the issue of hike in electricity charges to a sub-committee after some ministers opposed the proposal to hike the tariff. According to sources, they argued that the hike in tariff could affect Congress party’s prospects in the next year’s elections.

The ministers felt that the government should impose more power cuts on industries to ensure proper supply to households.
