Guwahati: Three youths including one Surrendered ULFA militant along with a several arms and ammunition were seized in a major development by Police at Jorabat area in the outskirts of Guwahati on Tuesday morning.
The consignment which was supposed to be delivered to ULFA militants in Goalapara include three AK 81 rifle, nine AK magazines, three US made bottle grenade and three sets of mobile phones.

Assam police IG for Central and Western Range LR Bishnoi said that the consignment was supposed to be delivered in Goalpara where a few ULFA militants were taking shelter. The three youths who are nabbed is identified as Krishna Rabha (SULFA), Priyanath Rabha and Dhananjay Rabah who was the driver of the Scorpio.
“This is the first consignment of ULFA in recent times. All our recent seizures were of GNLA consignment,” Bishnoi said. According to police it was a handiwork of Drishti Rajkhowa of Paresh Barua faction of the banned outfit to make their presence felt in lower Assam.
Meanwhile, one ULFA militant was killed in an encounter early morning on Tuesday along the Assam-Meghalaya border in Goalpara district. After acting on a tip off police followed a group of four militants who were hiding there.
“At around 3.30 militants launched attack on us and while retaliated one militant was killed. Two were reportedly injured,” Bishnoi added. Police also seized one 9mm pistol and Rs 10, 000 in cash.
