New Delhi : Home Minister Rajnath Singh Wednesday promised all help to Chief Ministers Tarun Gogoi of Assam and T.R. Zeliang of Nagaland to ease tensions along their border.
Rajnath Singh’s assurance came hours after two people died in police firing in Golaghat district of Assam.
The home minister asked the chief ministers to take all precaution to restore normalcy in the area.
He asked them to take administrative and security measures to deal with the law and order situation.
A home ministry statement quoted Rajnath Singh as saying that the central government would provide assistance to the two states and help rehabilitate people displaced from their homes following mob violence.
