Youth Congress will fight for the rights of refugees: J&K Pyc

Jammu: After the successful completion of agitation for 73rd Amendment and empowerment of Panchayats in Jammu and Kashmir, several delegations of refugees and refugee leaders Rajeev Chuni, Labha Ram Gandhi and Capt. Yudhveer Singh met J&K Youth Congress committee and urged the J&K Pradesh Youth Congress to fight for their rights also.

Talking to the media persons at Congress headquarters at Jammu, Shahnawaz Choudhary said that J&KPYC held a meeting and unanimously decided to fight for the rights of the refugees. He said that the main demands for which the PYC will fight for A onetime settlement of all refugees including compensation for the property which were left by the refugees at the time of displacement, formation of a Welfare & Advisory Board for Refugees, formulation of an Apex body of refugees, reservations across the country in the technical institution as in the case of Kashmiri migrants & the domicile status for West Pakistan refugees. He also said that PYC is ready to lead the agitation for the rights of refugees of 1947, 1965, 1971 and the refugees from West Pakistan.

After the meeting of PYC, a press conference was addressed by President PYC J&K Shahnawaz Choudhary flanked by Pranav Shagotra, Vice President PYC, Manjeet Singh Jatt, State general Secretary, Satish Sharma, President Lok sabha Jammu-Poonch and Pankaj Basotra, President Lok Sabha, Udhampur-Kathua- Doda.

PYC leaders said that refugees are the displaced citizens who were forced to leave there homes and now they are being denied their basic rights from last more than 50 years, which are meant for citizens of this country. They urged the CM of J&K, Omar Abdullah to approve the demands of Refugees in the Cabinet immediately, otherwise to face agitation of Youth congress in the State.
