New Delhi: US Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Desai Biswal Monday said America was excited to partner with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he represents the “hopes and aspirations” of Indians.
“The United States is very excited about the opportunity ahead and the road ahead in partnership with the new government… because we see the resounding mandate with which Prime Minister Modi has come in, as the hopes and the aspirations of the Indian people.”
“The United States wants to partner with India in meeting those hopes and aspirations,” Biswal said.
She said US President Barack Obama was looking forward to meeting Modi.
“Conversations are being worked out between our two governments. The (US) president in his first conversation with the prime minister (Modi) invited him and welcomed him to Washington. And we look forward to that at a mutually convenient date,” Biswal said.
