Chandigarh : Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Wednesday announced a hike of Rs.200 per month in all social security pensions.
Khattar said the hike will be for pensions like old age samman allowance, widow pension, pension for people with disabilities, dwarfs pension and others. It will be effective from Jan 1, 2015.
“This increase of Rs.200 would be effective for the next five years… it would reach Rs.2,000 per month after a period of five years,” he said.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Haryana cabinet here Wednesday.
Khattar said all the beneficiaries would get pension through bank accounts from February next year.
“Every household has a bank account as per the policy of the central government and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana launched to meet this purpose.
“Distribution of pension through bank accounts only would also prohibit any type of irregularities,” he added.
He said the monthly hike of Rs.200 in social security pension would benefit the beneficiaries by Rs.520 crore annually.
